Hello!

Welcome to Conch Carriers. We design and sew durable, everyday bags here in the Florida Keys using reclaimed and recycled materials from our coastal surroundings. Rope sourced from the ocean and mangroves is paired with repurposed fabrics to create functional, one-of-a-kind carriers built for life near the water. Each bag reflects the place it comes from and is made to be used, not just admired.

Our Story

Conch Carriers is a small, family-run business built by my husband and me in the Lower Florida Keys — with plenty of support and cheerleading from our two dogs, Leah and Andi.

This work began in Colorado, where I previously ran GunniBags and learned how reclaimed materials could be transformed into durable, functional bags. That early experience shaped how we think about materials, construction, and making things meant to last.

After moving to the Keys, we chose to start fresh and create something rooted entirely in this place. Surrounded by mangroves, saltwater, and a steady stream of found materials, the bags naturally evolved. Rope collected from the ocean and mangroves is paired with salvaged fabrics, allowing the materials themselves to guide each design.

Today, every Conch Carrier is sewn by us at home in the Keys. No two are ever the same — not by styling decisions, but by the nature of the materials. We also commit 10% of our proceeds to a local Monroe County nonprofit, keeping our work connected to the community that inspires it. At its core, Conch Carriers is about making useful, well-made bags while giving discarded materials a second life.

Conch Carrier Details:

No two Conch Carriers are exactly alike, but they all start the same way — with solid materials, a simple structure, and the idea that a bag should be easy to live with.

Each carrier is made from three main fabric pieces. The base is a recycled plastic vinyl that holds its shape, wipes clean, and handles sand and salt without much fuss. The accent fabric runs along the bottom of the bag and adds character, using reclaimed and salvaged textiles that give each one a slightly different look. The interior fabric shows up as a band along the top edge and lines the entire inside of the bag.

Handles are made from reclaimed rope collected from the ocean and mangroves. The rope varies — some softer, some more weathered — and that variation carries through into each bag. They’re comfortable in hand and built to hold up over time.

These bags are made with everyday use in mind. They’re sized and stitched for errands, beach days, market runs, and long afternoons out and about. You’ll notice small differences in color, texture, and wear in the materials, and those details are left intentionally. They reflect where the materials came from and the environment they were shaped by.

Conch Carriers are straightforward, well-made bags designed to fit into daily life in the Keys.
